CITY OF RENSSELAER SANITATION DEPARTMENT
The City of Rensselaer Sanitation Department prides itself in being good stewards of the environment and promoting sustainability through solid waste management and our recycling program. It is our responsibility to properly dispose of solid water, to protect our receiving landfills to be reprocessed into the everyday products that we use.
The Sanitation Department:
- Weekley collection of residential solid waster
- Industrial and commercial solid waste collection
- City wide clean-up week (First full week in May)
- Bi-weekly residential curbside collection of recyclables
- Industrial and commercial cardboard collection
- Electronic recycling collection
- Used tire collection, during clean-up week
Special Notes:
- Building materials and major home renovations will not be picked up and it is the homeowners' responsibility to dispose of properly.
- Recyclables (including electronics) may be dropped off any time at our recycling facility, located at 820 E Walnut St. Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm CST, Saturday 8:00 am to noon CST.
