The City of Rensselaer is home to The Rensselaer Central School Corporation, better known as The Bombers.
This is a public school system which includes:
Rensselaer Central Primary School (Pre-K - Second Grade)
Van Rensselaer Elementary School (Third Grade - Fifth Grade)
Rensselaer Central Middle School (Sixth grade - Eighth Grade)
Rensselaer Central High School (Ninth Grade - Twelfth Grade)

Rensselaer is also home to Saint Augustine's Catholic School, which is open to children of all faiths in grades Pre-K through Fifth Grade. They are located at 328 N. McKinley Avenue.
